In order to carry forward the academic spirit, promote academic exchanges, give full play to the positive role of academic exchanges in improving academic standards and promoting discipline construction, the college specially held the “Inspiring USTB” report. The first report meeting in 2022 was successfully held in conference room 1104B on November 3. This meeting was a combination of online/offline. The meeting was chaired by Vice President Peng Kaixiang, and Dean Zhang Zhaohui attended and provided guidance. More than 200 teachers and students, both online and offline, participated in the report meeting.

The speakers at this report meeting were Professor Zhang Yifang and Dr. Hu Yanpeng. First of all, Professor Zhang Yifang took the low-carbon new technologies that the steel industry urgently needs to break through under the national energy consumption "dual control" and "dual carbon" goals as an example. Starting from innovation and market demand, he used interdisciplinary and collaborative innovation to innovate or replace modern technologies. There are products, forming a new product pattern and giving birth to new industrial formats. Case studies on cross-disciplinary research and development through low-carbon flash melting, LTCC electronic materials, etc. were also provided, and the importance of using information technology to mine, analyze, and integrate data from various disciplines to break information islands and achieve information sharing was emphasized. Finally, he called for the school’s multi-disciplinary advantages and academic exchange platform to be used to promote the integration of industry, academia and research, and to realize the industrialization of scientific research results.

The contents of the two reports were brilliant, explained in simple terms, and provided a wonderful academic feast from different fields and perspectives. The atmosphere was warm and active, and the participating teachers and students benefited a lot.
