On January 4, the performance evaluation meeting for the National Key R&D Program Industrial Software Key Special Project — Research on Data-Driven Closed-Loop Control, Analysis, and Optimization Methods for Manufacturing Processes (Project No. 2021YFB3301200) — led by the university, was held in Meeting Room 5 of Tiangong Building. Professor Zhang Weidong, Vice President of the university; Professor Yang Chunhua, Project Responsibility Expert, Consultant Expert, and Deputy Director of the Academic Committee of Central South University; and Professor Qiao Junfei, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Beijing University of Technology, attended the meeting.

Members of the Expert Group of the National Key R&D Program Industrial Software Special Project served as reviewers for the performance evaluation meeting, including Professor Tao Fei, Director of the Institute for Interdisciplinary Frontiers of Science at Beihang University; Senior Engineer Sun Yanguang, Deputy Director of the Metallurgical Automation Research and Design Institute of China Iron & Steel Research Institute Group; Professor Fang Yiming, Counselor of the Hebei Provincial Government and Professor at the School of Electrical Engineering, Yanshan University; Researcher Hou Zengguang, Vice President of the Chinese Association of Automation and Researcher at the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences; Professor Wang Youqing, Dean of the School of Information Science and Technology at Beijing University of Chemical Technology; Professor Deng Fang, Executive Vice Dean of the Graduate School at Beijing Institute of Technology; and Professor Han Honggui, Dean of the School of Computer Science at Beijing University of Technology.

Speech by Zhang Weidong
At the meeting, Zhang Weidong expressed his hope that the expert panel would provide constructive criticism and valuable suggestions to help further refine the performance evaluation reports and supporting materials for each subproject. He emphasized the importance of fostering a coordinated and collaborative environment to ensure the smooth progress of future project performance evaluations.
Following Zhang’s remarks, Professor Peng Kaixiang, Project Leader and Deputy Dean of the School of Automation at the University of Science and Technology Beijing, together with Professor Ye Hao from the Department of Automation at Tsinghua University (Leader of Subproject 2), Professor Liu Shixin, Dean of the School of Control Engineering at the Qinhuangdao Branch of the School of Information Science and Engineering, Northeastern University (Leader of Subproject 3), and Professor Yang Ying from the College of Engineering at Peking University (Leader of Subproject 4), presented reports on the overall progress of the project and their respective subprojects.
After listening to the presentations, the expert panel unanimously concluded that all subprojects had successfully achieved the objectives and deliverables specified in their task agreements. The overall evaluation result was “approved.” The experts recommended further enhancing the quality of performance evaluation materials, striving for excellence, strengthening the dissemination and application of research outcomes, and continuing to make thorough preparations for subsequent project performance assessments.

Li Qing, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Automation, presided over the meeting and delivered the concluding remarks. He expressed gratitude to the expert panel for their recognition of the project’s progress and achievements, and affirmed the efforts made by the project team throughout the implementation process. Li noted that the meeting not only provided a comprehensive summary of the previous work but also clarified the direction for future efforts. He urged all groups to carefully review and incorporate the experts’ suggestions, revise the performance evaluation materials with diligence, and strive for excellent results in the upcoming project acceptance stage.
